Like its previous models, these new phones boasts a unique design elements, spec-wised features, and flagship camera performance co-engineered with ZEISS.

With the assistance of vivo Philippines, we were fortunate enough to obtain a review unit to share its new features and experience the top variant model, the vivo V30 Pro 5G.

So, let’s dive in to the review.

The whole box has a matte finish and the top cover has an appealing circular graphic design with UV lamination along with a silver foiled V30 Pro logo in a debossed effect.

The entire box has a matte finish, while the top cover boasts an appealing circular graphic design with UV lamination. Then you’ll see a silver foiled V30 Pro logo in a debossed effect to add a touch of elegance.

The vivo V30 Pro 5G contains the following included accessories:

Design and Build Quality

The vivo V30 Pro 5G has a slim and lightweight profile with dimensions at 164.36 × 75.1 × 7.45 mm and weighing 188 grams.

This model is available in Petals White, unlike its other variant the vivo V30 5G, which offers a second color option in Green Sea.

Aesthetically, the vivo V30 Pro 5G is an appealing and unique smartphone that anyone who would see it will instantly love the overall design, especially the women.

The vivo V30 Pro is equipped with a durable glass on both front and back panels curved equally across the long edges of the frame. The rear glass panel has a matte finish with a beautiful 3D petal pattern. The beautiful 3D petal pattern design is sure to captivate women. Each petal is intricately layered that creates a beautiful pastel color gradient from white to blue, it is then accented by a subtle shimmer effect.

The camera module features a protruding rectangular design that’s positioned on the left side. Within it has two square sections which are divide between the camera and the Aura Light square along with the LED Flash. Still at the back are some branding logos including the Zeiss icon and the vivo logo.

Due to the camera bump of the phone, it wobbles a bit when tapping on the upper left portion of the display.

The aluminum frame is glossy and all four corners of the phone is rounded making them comfortable to hold and feel prettier to look at. Plus, it also reinforces the device and provides shock absorption to protect against drops.

On the right side edge are the volume rockers and power/sleep button made of durable plastic while its opposite side is completely clean.

The top edge side of the phone has a microphone with an inscribed “PROFESSIONAL PORTRAIT” covered with glass.

The bottom edge holds the SIM card tray, USB-C port, microphone, and a speaker grille.

For that extra peace of mind, the vivo V30 Pro 5G has IP54 rating against dust and splashes of water.

Display

The vivo V30 Pro 5G gets a premium 1.5K AMOLED display measuring at 6.78 inches with resolutions of 2800 x 1260 pixels.

The phone’s display glass is curved, thin bezels all around the screen and a small punch-hole design for the front camera.

In addition, the AMOLED panel of the vivo V30 Pro 5G also supports a refresh rate up to a maximum of 120Hz, 100% 100% DCI-P3 Color Gamut, 105% NTSC, and 452 pixel density.

The refresh rate can be adjusted with three refresh modes – 120Hz, 60hz, and Smart Switch. If you want the display to automatically select the preferred refresh rate depending on the scenario and usage.

The high contrast ratio at 8000000:1 and peak brightness of 2800 nits can provide the display of the phone with good visibility to use even on direct sunlight.

I’m amazed with the quality of the display as it is quite vivid, bright and provides a good level of color reproduction. You’ll definitely love watching your favorite streaming apps or play mobile games on the outstanding display of the phone.

Don’t worry about spending extra time watching videos on the vivo V30 Pro 5G display, the phone has some built-in eye care protection features. It has an anti-fatigue curve 2.0 to keep your eye relaxed, a dark theme mode, biometric brightness adjustment, and SGS Low Blue Light Certification.

At night time, the 2160Hz PWM dimming feature makes the screen more comfortable for your eyes making it a “risk-free flicker” for a better viewing experience and avoid eye fatigue.

Performance

Under the hood, the vivo V30 Pro 5G is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 octa-core processor, it’s the same chipset of its predecessor.

The chipset is one of MediaTek’s modern 4nm mid-range processor featuring one Cortex-A78 prime CPU core clocked at 3.1GHz, a three Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 3.0GHz, and four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz. It is paired with an ARM Mali-G610 MC6 for the graphics.

The review unit we got has a higher hardware configurations with a 12GB LPDDR5 RAM that can be expanded up to an additional 12GB to help apps run smoothly. This brings out an outstanding total of 24GB RAM on the device.

The internal storage offers a massive 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage to accommodate more files and photos. However, the phone does not support a microSD slot for storage expansion.

As for connectivity, the vivo V30 Pro 5G supports a dual nano SIM 5G on both SIM slots, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and OTG.

Here’s our benchmark scores on the vivo V30 Pro 5G:

  • GeekBench 6 CPU: 1021 Single Core / 3413 Multi-Core
  • GeekBench 6 GPU: 4276 OpenCL Score
  • CPDT: 632.50 MB/s Write, 1.13GB Read
  • PCMark: 10777 Work 3.0 Performance
  • 3DMark: 6708 Wild Life (40.17 fps)

Despite the vivo V30 Pro 5G being equipped with the same chipset, we can still say that it remains a great all-around performer. The phone can handle daily tasks such as updating social media apps, web browsing, long hours of video streaming sessions, and even some fairly demanding games.

The audio quality of the phone is average, with the sound output mostly coming from the bottom. It delivers good high-mid range frequencies and clear vocals, but lacks that deep bass.

Additionally, clicking the volume key beyond 100 percent activates the Audio Booster mode, allowing the speakers to reach volumes up to 150 percent. It’s much useful in noisy environments where increased volume is needed.

Missing on the phone is a 3.5mm audio jack for wired headphones, we would recommend using a Bluetooth audio device that would give a seamless connectivity and better sound quality.

You can use the phone for long work hours or extended gaming sessions without being worried, as the built-in large smart cooling system efficiently dissipates heat. It is also equipped with 11 temperature sensors ensuring the phone will be stable and continues a smooth operation.

Camera

A standout feature of the vivo V30 Pro 5G is the impressive cameras that offers a triple camera setup and partnered with ZEISS to produce exceptional portrait photography . The first lens is a 50MP main camera with an f/1.88 aperture using a 1/1.49-inch Sony IMX920 sensor. It also has Optical Image Stablization (OIS).

vivo named its main camera as “VCS True Color Main Camera”, the VCS stands for vivo Camera-Bionic Spectrum a new photo and color enhancement technology.

The second lens is a 50MP portrait or telephoto camera with an f/1.85 aperture. The third lens is a 50MP ultra wide-angle camera with an f/2.0 aperture with a 119-degree field of view.

For selfies, the front camera boasts a 50MP lens with an aperture of f/2.0 and a field of view at 92-degree.

Another intriguing feature of the vivo V30 Pro 5G is the Aura Light. Unlike its predecessor’s small circular ring light, vivo has upgraded the design to a large square-type LED light. This light can be customized to emit a spectrum of color temperatures, ranging from white to yellow to orange-red. Plus, the Aura Light can be set to automatic mode for added convenience.

This handy feature proves useful for users who enjoy taking portrait shots, as it provides constant illumination on their subjects during low-light conditions.

The camera app of the phone are easy to use and each functions were properly laid to take your photos. You get a set of five shooting modes ready to use – night, portrait, photo, video, and micro movie. If you click the more options, it will offer an extra array of shooting modes with high resolution, pano, ultra-hd document, slo-mo, time-lapse, supermoon, astro, pro, snapshot, food, dual view and live photo.

On the camera viewfinder, the top portion allows users to access the Google lens, flash, color profiles, macro, and settings.

Just above the shooting modes, the zoom switch slider offers a convenient 0.6x, 1x, 2x and 4x zoom options right at your fingertips, and it can extend up to a maximum of 20x zoom only. On the portrait mode you only get zoom options at 1x and 2x.

ZEISS Style Portrait

vivo has collaborated with ZEISS to highlight the portrait capabilities of the V30 Pro 5G. The phone offers ZEISS Style Portrait filters, found on the camera app, designed to replicate the signature appearance of the ZEISS camera lenses. These include ZEISS Biotar Style Bokeh, ZEISS Planar Style Bokeh, ZEISS Distagon Style Bokeh, and ZEISS Sonnar Style Bokeh. Additionally, for video recording, users can choose between ZEISS Cinematic Style Bokeh and ZEISS Cine-flare Portrait.

With the right ZEISS style, your portrait photos will look stunning. The subject is focused and separation is good as well, and the background blur quality is superb. I recommend experimenting with different styles to achieve the perfect bokeh effect for your portraits.

The vivo V30 Pro 5G probably one of the best selfie cameras I like because of the large 50MP lens with a wide 92-degree field of view and autofocus. Our selfies and groufies looks amazing having more details, colors are good and skin texture are well defined. If used during low light conditions, you’ll just get a small amount of noise but the quality is still good.

For videos, the cameras on the V30 Pro 5G can capture up to 4K, 1080p and 720p resolution with available frame rates at 30fps or 60fps. Videos get saved in a standard MP4 format, H.264 video stream or HEVC/H.265 to save some storage space.

The Ultra Stabilization feature can be activated to achieve smoother video recordings; however, it crops some part of the image for the stabilization to take effect. If you prefer to retain the full frame of your recordings, then choose the standard stabilization mode in the camera app.

Video recordings from the main camera produced sharp with details on the footages, contrast is good and the colors just looks natural enough for color processing during video editing. While the ultrawide camera is decent still with details and colors are fair but needs improvement on the dynamic range.

Software

The vivo V30 Pro 5G runs with Funtouch OS 14 on top of the latest version of Android 14.

It has a few pre-installed apps like Agoda, Facebook, Lazada, LinkedIn, Netflix, Shopee, and TikTok. There are also some Google tools and vivo’s very own proprietary apps.

On the top portion of the app drawer, you’ll find a recommended apps category which are mostly the used ones. For gamers, there’s a dedicated Game mode to enhance your gaming performance on your gameplay.

If you’re a vivo user it’s very easy to navigate and use the Funtouch OS, plus it’s not entirely unchanged. It performs very smoothly with no lags or hiccups.

The brand also promises to deliver two major OS updates and three years of security patches for the vivo V30 Pro 5G.

Battery

With the vivo V30 Pro 5G having a slim body, it packs a large 5,000mAh battery capacity. It has support for an 80W fast charging and the package even includes an 80W FlashCharge power adapter.

In our charging test with the 80W power adapter, we got a 65% charge on the phone’s battery in just 30 minutes. We were able to have it fully charged in 49 minutes only from 0 to 100 percent.

Combined with the energy-efficient chipset, the phone can easily last throughout the day even for heavy users. Standby time is pretty good, which allows the battery to last up to three days.

We conducted a PCMark Battery test on the vivo V30 Pro 5G, the app subjected the phone to a continuous test of various everyday tasks (photo editing, web browsing, writing, etc.) until the battery level reached 20 percent. With its built-in 5000mAh battery, the phone did an awesome job and projected to provide users with approximately 15 hours and 44 minutes of battery life.
