Motivo W33 Wireless Foldable Headphones

Motivo Philippines, an international electronics company sent us their newest on-ear wireless headphone that features a foldable design for convenient portability. It’s an ideal audio device for users on the go or looking to stash them easily in their bags.

Aside from its compact and portable design, the Motivo W33 wireless foldable headphone maintains good sound quality without compromise.

Now, let’s dive into our hands-on review of the Motivo W33 wireless foldable headphone.

Unboxing

The Motivo W33 comes in a simple packaging box, featuring an all-white color and made from a matte-finish cardboard material.

The front of the box has an image of the W33 topping off with a UV lamination for a polished look then adding along with some red foil printing to highlight the brand logo, model name, and other icons.

Both sides of the box are printed with “W33 Physical Noise Cancelling” labels while the bottom flap has another red foiled Motivo logo.

The back portion of the packaging box, you’ll find additional printed elements including another image of the W33, detailed product specifications, key features, certification marks, and company information.

When you open the box, you will see a plastic compartment box which holds all the contents of the box. You’ll immediately see the Motivo W33 headphones, instructional manual, and a USB-A to USB-C cable. The included cable is a bit short, measuring 12 inches in length.

Design and Build Quality

The Motivo W33 will be available in two colorways – Cream and our review unit in a classic Black.

The headphones are pleasantly well-built, with the headband and outer body of the earcups are made of durable polycarbonate plastic material in a matte black finish. Each earcup was added with a glossy circular design area with a white Motivo logo.

The inner area of the headband offers a memory-foam padding they’re about 1/2 thick conforming to the user’s head shape at the same time reducing pressure points during extended use.

Meanwhile, the earcups are also equipped with a thick memory foam cushions to ensure a snug and provide exceptional comfort for your ears.

The headphones offer a “physical noise cancelling” feature meaning there’s no technology actively blocking out sounds, it’s more of a physical adjustment due to the thickness of the earcups padding which helps to reduce the ambient noise.

The earcups on the Motivo W33 can be folded inward when the headphones are not in use. However, they do not swivel out by 90 degrees to sit it nicely around the neck.

The right earcup houses everything you need to control from the physical buttons and inputs. It has the volume control, power button, SD card slot, USB-C charging port, 3.5mm audio jack, LED indicator, and microphones.

The left earcup is free from any ports or controls for a minimalist appearance.

To easily identify the correct side for wearing the W33, the headphones have its left and right labels located on the foldable hinge of the headband.

I just wish that Motivo was able to include a soft carrying pouch to protect the headphones from scratches and a convenient storage to safely transport it when on the go.

Connectivity and Pairing

For connectivity, the Motivo W33 has a built-in Bluetooth 5.3 with wireless technology systems that includes Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Basic Rate (BR), and Enhanced Data Rate (EDR).

These array of Bluetooth technologies can help the headphones to provide continuous wireless connection, faster data transfer, and energy efficiency. The updated 5.3 is also more stable and faster version of Bluetooth technology.

With the Bluetooth 5.3 connection, we were able to seamlessly pair and use the Motivo W33 in our MacBook Pro and Samsung S23 Ultra during daily commute or while working at home.

To pair the W33 to your device, simply turn on the power button then the indicator light emits blue and red lights. Look under your Bluetooth function to search for the Motivo W33 model name and then click to pair.

The inclusion of the 3.5mm audio port on the Motivo W33 is another good feature, it’s a backup option in case it runs out of battery. By connecting a 3.5mm audio jack from your device, you can continue using the headphones which potentially extends the usage and ensuring uninterrupted audio quality.

FM and MP3 Modes

The Motivo W33 has two additional functional modes aside from the Bluetooth mode, it has an FM and MP3 modes. By pressing the volume + key twice you can toggle between Bluetooth and FM mode.

In MP3 mode, you need to transfer your music files to an SD card and insert it into the card reader slot of the W33. The headphone will then automatically play the music from the inserted card.

Then on FM mode you can search and listen to your favorite FM radio station.

With these two options the user now has versatile playback options to suit their preferences and needs whether you want to listen to a live broadcast or play your own playlist.

Sound Quality

The audio quality on the Motivo W33 provide a good bass sound that’s enough to reduce both impact and depth due to the ear cushions as compared to the on-ear (earbuds) devices.

These headphones offer a balanced mid-range with the vocals and lead instruments can reproduce with clarity and just the right accuracy. Meanwhile, the treble sound is also decent it’ not too harsh or over-emphasized.

To adjust the volume of the W33, press and hold either the (+) to increase volume or (-) to decrease the sound.

Overall, I’m pleased on how the sound quality plays very well with the Motivo W33 whether it’s listening to my playlist or binge-watching my favorite Netflix episodes.

When a phone call comes in, you can answer it directly from the headphones by pressing the power button. So far, the sound is clear from either end of the conversation and we don’t experience any lags or call drops.

Battery

The battery life of the Motivo W33 is pretty decent. At 70% volume, we were able to use the headphones for 5 hours and 25 minutes before needing to recharge.

We were able to monitor the battery consumption and observed that it dropped from 60% to 50% after 2 hours of continuous use.

When it goes down to 10 percent, you’ll hear a voice prompt telling you to recharge the W33.

Charging the headphones from 0 to 100% took us 1 hour and 43 minutes.

The Motivo W33 wireless foldable headphone is a great audio companion for work and play. The foldable design makes it more portable, at the same time the hinges and joints has a durable construction able to withstand frequent folding and unfolding.

The sound quality is pretty good allowing users to enjoy excellent sound quality across any media consumption with the Motivo W33.

The clamping force of the headphones is secure and firm enough, it also adapts gently to any head size by adjusting it. With the included padding and ear cushions in the headphones, it ensures a snug and comfortable fit even while listening for longer periods without discomfort.

As for the battery life, it is pretty decent giving you around more than 5 hours of continuous playback time before you need to charge the device. One good feature I liked is the 3.5mm audio jack that can be used with a wide range of devices, including smartphones, laptops, tablets, gaming consoles, and audio players without the need for Bluetooth support.

There’s no proprietary apps to link the headphone to your phone to access controls or other additional functions. Hopefully, Motivo could create one that can enahnce overall user experience for its products.

In general, the Motivo W33 packs a commendable set of features at a reasonable price point.
