Redmi Note 12 Pro (8GB+256GB) – First Impression and Unboxing

After the successful launch of the Redmi Note 12 Series last April as they unveiled three new models: Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, and Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G.

Xiaomi Philippines will launch two new additions to the Redmi Note 12 family, the Redmi Note 12S and the Redmi Note 12 Pro a 4G variant.

With the new smartphones, Xiaomi continues its lively campaign with the tagline “Live Vivid” to encourage the young Philippine market like the Gen Zs’ to capture vibrant memories and produce attention-grabbing content online.

For the next couple of days, we will have a hands-on review with the Redmi Note 12 Pro. The latest mid-range smartphone that offer users a 120Hz AMOLED display, AI Quad camera, powerful processor, and long-lasting battery with fast charging technology.

For now, here’s our first look and unboxing of the new Redmi Note 12 Pro.

Unboxing

The Redmi Note 12 Pro comes in a familiar all-white packaging box made of thick cardboard-type material in a matte finish. You have a few elements printed on the box with the image of the Redmi Note 12 Pro on the top cover, the model’s name, and other information about the product.

Opening the box, you’ll immediately see a compartment box that holds some of the included accessories. Then underneath it, you will have the phone, charger, and cable.

Taking everything out of the box you will get the following contents:

Design

For our review unit, we have the Graphite Gray color.

Looking at the back panel, it has a nice and smooth matte anti-glare coating which helps put off fingerprint smudges on the phone.

It has a rectangular camera island that’s jutting out at the top left corner with round edges and a glass-type surface. You’ll spot a Redmi logo and certification marks at the bottom.

The sides of the Redmi Note 12 Pro are flat and have a matte finish.

The right side edge houses the volume rockers and power/sleep button with an embedded fingerprint sensor mounted on the surface of the button.

The left side is completely clean no buttons whatsoever.

On the top, it accommodates a secondary microphone, Xiaomi’s signature IR blaster, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a speaker grille.

The bottom holds another stereo speaker, the USB-C port, the primary microphone, and the dual hybrid SIM tray.

At the front, it has a punch-hole notch for the front camera and is probably one of the smallest we’ve seen in the market. The bezels all around the display are thin except for the bottom chin which is slightly raised.

Thanks to its flat design and more subtle curves around the edges the Redmi Note 12 Pro offers a better grip and is comfortable to hold.

Display

The Redmi Note 12 Pro is equipped with a 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to a maximum of 120Hz.

The AMOLED display is quite vibrant, colorful and the sharpness seems to be on point. We will definitely have a good experience when we watch video content or play games on the Redmi Note 12 Pro during our review.

The 120Hz offers a smooth scrolling response on the screen and lag-free transitions.

To add more depth, contrast, and vivid colors, the phone comes with Dolby Vision to bring the best picture and mobile viewing experience to life.

Hardware

The Redmi Note 12 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G octa-core processor, 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage to deliver a superb performance.

For an immersive sound experience while listening to your music or watching your favorite video, the phone has Dolby Atmos^® spatial audio technology.

Powering the Redmi Note 12 Pro is a large 5000mAh battery with support for a 67W turbo charging feature to quickly juice up the phone.

With a bigger long-lasting battery, you can go on browsing, update social media, play games, watching movies and more on the Redmi Note 12 Pro.

Camera

Capture life’s precious moments like never before with the Redmi Note 12 Pro’s cutting-edge AI quad-camera system. It is equipped with a 108MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide camera, 2MP depth camera and 2MP macro camera.

The camera sensor operates a Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor size of 1/1.52-inch, along with 9-in-1 pixel binning and a dual native ISO. It allows users to capture great photos and videos even in low light conditions.

For a clear and natural-looking selfies, it has a 16MP front facing camera.

Initial Impressions

The Redmi Note 12 Pro is a great-looking phone that offers an exceptional experience. The AMOLED display is vibrant, sharp, and colorful. The 120Hz refresh rate is an advantage for gamers to deliver a great gameplay experience. So far, in the first few days with the phone, the performance has been snappy, lag-free, and smooth.

We’re also loving the camera as the built-in 108MP AI quad-camera can take pretty good photos. Plus, you can charge the large battery very quickly with the support of the included 67W turbo charging power adapter.

Watching movies on the Redmi Note 12 Pro will give you the best picture and sound quality without having to adjust your settings with its Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos features.
