Infinix ZERO 5G – Unboxing and First Impressions

Just recently, Infinix attained top spot as one of the best-selling brand during Shopee’s 3.15 sales event. The company doesn’t stop there as it continues to offer the best smartphone to date by releasing one of the best budget-friendly 5G smartphone.

The Infinix ZERO 5G offers a new sleek body design, equipped with the latest chipset from MediaTek, triple camera setup, large Full HD display and fast 5G connectivity.

So, here’s our unboxing and first impression of the Infinix ZERO 5G.

Unboxing

The overall design for the packaging box of the Infinix ZERO 5G gets a different style apart from the bright neon green color box we are used to see. The packaging box is a bit tall and thick measuring 4 x 2.25 x 9.5 inches in its overall dimensions.

The design elements of the box gets a nice clean layout with the model name visible on the top cover and sides. At the back of the packaging you get more information about the ZERO 5G with specs and its notable features. I love the chosen color swatches for the box in black, silver and blue plus they also added a nice carbon fiber hologram effect and the blue foil finish on the 5G.

Inside the box you have the following items:

Infinix ZERO 5G Unit

Power adaptor, USB Type-C Cable and SIM Ejector Tool

Warrranty Card, XCLUB XGOLD Voucher and Clear Jelly Protective Case designed by Oraimo

They also add on a screen protector that’s already applied on the the display glass.

Design and Display

On the aesthetics of the ZERO 5G, we will first focus on the back panel as it has an attractive design.

The ZERO 5G offers a Uni-Curve design as a feature dubbed by the company. It has a softly curved back using a composite durable plastic material that imitates the look or feel of a glossy and smooth glass finish. Holding the device is more comfortable, one-handed friendly and looks premium.

The rear camera module located on the top left is a bit raised but it goes integrated into the curve of the back panel creating this remarkable seamless design. It does not look weird at all, we believe that Infinix would like to move away from the traditional camera module design.

Colorways available for the ZERO 5G will be in Skylight Orange and the Horizon Blue for our review unit. The Horizon Blue gets a pleasant gleam effect whenever light falls on it.

However, the nice smooth glossy finish may sometimes tend to let your device slip from your hands and it easily attracts fingerprint smudges on it. Good thing they included a clear protective case designed by Oraimo, a global exclusive accessory partner of Infinix to fix this problem.

Checking on the edges of ZERO 5G you’ll find a SIM card slot on the left while the volume rockers and the power/sleep button that houses the fingerprint sensor is totally flush with the body located on the right. At the bottom one will find the 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port, speaker grille and microphone. On the top you have the microphone only.

The Infinix ZERO 5G packs a large 6.78-inch FHD+ ultra-smooth display supported by a 120Hz and 60Hz refresh rate giving a smooth and quick response especially when you’re playing games.

Processor and Battery

The device gets the latest and powerful MediaTek Dimensity 900 processor optimized to capture 4K video, better power efficiency, and capable to handle 5G connection with faster speed and more reach.

The Infinix ZERO 5G is equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery that can last you throughout the day. Infinix claims that you can get up to 27 days of standby time, 9.4 hours of game time, 22 hours of calls, 8.8 hours of video playback and 152 hours of music playback. Juice up the massive battery swiftly with safety approved TÜV Rheinland certified of its 33W Safe Fast-charge technology.

Hardware and Network

The ZERO 5G gets a large 128GB storage and 8GB RAM to store more files or run more apps in the background without slowing you’re phone down. If the storage is not enough you can expand it further via a MicroSD up to 256GB.

The device is ready to handle fast 5G network connection both available on its dual SIM. Under its network settings you can opt to turn on the Clever 5G feature which makes you to switch automatically between 4G and 5G smartly to further extend battery life.

Camera

The rear camera of the Infinix ZERO 5G offers a triple-camera setup housed in a rectangular shaped module with dual LED flash. The main camera sports a 48MP Samsung sensor with 30x zoom, a 13MP portrait camera and a 2MP depth camera but there’s no ultra-wide lens. Lastly, for your selfies the ZERO 5G is equipped with a 16MP front facing AI camera.

First Impressions

Overall, the Infinix ZERO 5G has an advantage in terms of its hardware and aesthetics.

Under the hood, it boasts of a powerful MediaTek processor coupled with a large 128GB storage and more RAM. If the storage is not enough you can still manage to expand it via a MicroSD. It lets you experience fast 5G connectivity and save more battery with its built-in Clever 5G feature.

The display offers a large 6.78-inch Full HD quality but it’s not an AMOLED. However, the quality is not bad at all. I found the screen projects nice colors, deep black, text are clear and smooth performance with its 120Hz refresh rate. It has rounded corners with narrow bezels on the front display mostly from the top and sides but a little bit thicker at the bottom.

Infinix new Uni-curve design on the ZERO 5G is appealing. It makes the device looks premium and the raised camera bump style at the back panel isn’t unusual at all. It’s still lightweight just comfortable enough to hold and operate with just one hand. The glossy finish however is prone for fingerprint smudges but a good protective case can solve that problem easily

As for the camera, we want to shoot more photos with the ZERO 5G to see the quality especially on the video. However, we can see some good decent shots during bright conditions and will show you on our full review quality captured at low light conditions.

So, stay tuned for the full review, official price and more on the Infinix ZERO 5G.
