Unboxing and First Impressions: Xiaomi Redmi 12C (4GB+128GB)

Xiaomi just recently launched its latest entry-level and budget-friendly smartphone with the new Redmi 12C. The company claims that the Redmi 12C offers one of the most powerful performances within its price segment. Apart from its impressive performance, the Redmi 12C now has bigger storage options and a larger screen.

The Redmi 12C will be available in four variants offering different storage and memory capacities starting with a 3GB+32GB version priced at PHP 5,499, 4GB+64GB at PHP 6,499, our review unit the 4GB+128GB version at PHP 7,499, and a 6GB+128GB version which has a standard price of PHP 8,999 exclusive only through Xiaomi’s online e-commerce platforms.

All the Redmi 12C will be available on all Xiaomi-authorized offline stores and its official online e-commerce store partners on Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop.

Unboxing

The packaging box of the Redmi 12C comes in a very simple white box made of thick cardboard-type material.

There are only a few printed elements on the box that you can spot on it. You will see the model’s name on the sides, product info, and an image of the Redmi 12C on the top cover.

Upon opening the box, you will immediately see the phone itself, then after taking it out, underneath it is another compartment box that holds the included accessories.

Everything inside the box you have the following contents the Redmi 12C unit, SIM Ejector Tool, MicroUSB to USB-A cable, 10W power adaptor, Quick Start Guide, Warranty Card, and Safety Information.

Design

The Redmi 12C comes in four colorways in Graphite Grey, Mint Green, Lavender Purple, and our review unit in Ocean Blue.

At the back, the cover panel has a curved design made of durable plastic material. You will also see a unique and stylish striped textured design which gives it an extra anti-slip grip. It also helps hide those fingerprint smudges and comfortable to hold.

You have a square-type camera island that holds two camera lenses, an LED flash, and a fingerprint sensor.

On the right side, you have the volume rocker and power button that gets the same color as the phone’s rear cover panel.

The SIM card tray is found on the left side.

You get a MicroUSB port at the bottom, along with a speaker grille, and a microphone.

On the top, a 3.5mm audio jack is placed and convenient for those who want to use their wired headphones or connect to any external audio device.

Moving to the front of the device, it offers a large 6.71-inch HD+ display coupled with a 60Hz refresh rate and resolutions of 1650×720 pixels. The screen shows off just the right amount of brightness and colors.

Performance

The Redmi 12C is powered by a 12nm MediaTek Helio G85 octa-core processor capable of clock speeds up to 2GHz.

It comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage which you can further expand with a dedicated microSD card slot up to 1TB.

The phone is equipped with a large 5,000mAh battery so you don’t have to worry about charging from time to time.

Camera

The rear camera of the Redmi 12C boasts a 50MP main camera with an aperture of f/1.8. Good thing that the phone is equipped with an autofocus sensor and very few Android cameras under this price point come with it.

For selfies, the front-facing camera has a 5MP lens with an autofocus feature as well.

Sharing a few sample photos we took on the Redmi 12C.

So far, we got nice decent images during well-lit conditions on the 50MP camera. But we will share more photos and even try low light situations to see how the camera performs.
