Review: MOMAX Q. Power Pro Wireless Battery Pack with Smart Dock

If you have a smartphone that supports wireless charging capabilities, aside from having that cool feature, it saves you from dealing with annoying cables. Not all phones have wireless charging feature as it is mainly available in high-end phones like the Samsung Note10 series, S10 series, Huawei P30 Pro, Google Pixel 3/3XL, Xiaomi Mi9, LG G8 ThinQ, iPhone XS Max, 8 Plus and more.

It’s a little bit of a surprise that some power banks are now developing their products that can charge devices wirelessly. One renowned consumer electronics brand like MOMAX has already developed the said technology. Let’s check out their latest product offering the MOMAX Q. Power Pro Wireless Battery Pack and Smart Dock.

Inside the box you have the Q. Wireless Power Battery Pack, Smart Dock, Instructional Manuals and USB-A to Type-C Cable (100cm). They did not include a wall charger or even an additional MicroUSB cable for other smartphones who are still supported with this type. You might need to use your own wall charger for the meantime or buy an extra one.

The MOMAX Q. Power Pro Wireless Battery Pack and Smart Dock has an elegant and premium finish that makes a perfect pair for your high-end smartphone. For our review unit we have the black color, there’s a white color available as well.

The unit comprises of two pieces, the wireless powerbank and the dock. The powerbank is built in plastic and aluminum material. It has 8,000 mAh battery with the wireless charging feature. Located below are three charging ports (USB-A Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 Technology, Type-C and 5V/2.4A charge port) dedicated to charge the powerbank itself and your smartphone.

At the left bottom side of the powerbank you can see a dedicated power button as well as LED indicators. Green indicator means that your powerbank is on standby, ready to charge and it will turn off automatically in less than a minute. Using the USB cable with your device to the powerbank starts the charging process.

For the wireless charging, it is located on top of the powerbank, we are using the Samsung Note10+ to try this unique feature. The first time we immediately dock the Note10+ on top of the powerbank it does not automatically charge. You need to turn on the powerbank to initiate the wireless charging and the indicator will then turn red. It might take a little longer but you get a seamless charging experience.

The Note10+ still has a 74-percent battery and after 5 minutes we get an additional 5-percent increase additional in battery life. It was estimated that using the wireless charging, it will take around 40 minutes until it gets a full charge.

The smart dock on the other hand charges the powerbank by simply putting the powerbank into it. It also has a rubber pad at the bottom to keep it intact in its place whether you put it on a glass, wood or glossy surface. You can both charge the powerbank and your smartphone wirelessly into the smart dock, there is a dedicated rubber strip for the smartphone to rest on it. You can charge the device either in vertical or horizontal position.

Our tests also revealed that you can simultaneously charge up to 2-3 devices with the powerbank only. We put the Note10+ on top for the wireless charging while the Huawei Nova3 and Vivo V15 into the other available ports.
