Sun Life of Canada (Philippines) Inc., the leading and longest-standing life insurance company in the country, recently held the “Summer To Remember” promo, which was made exclusively for its clients to reward them for their continued loyalty and support.
To join, clients simply had to subscribe to the company’s newsletter in order to qualify for the raffle draw. Thousands of Sun Life clients participated, where one lucky winner received a trip for four to Boracay and seven pairs of tickets to watch Miss Saigon, an award-winning musical.
The winner of the summer trip to Boracay for four was Jale Monique Abellas, while the those who won a pair of VIP tickets to watch Miss Saigon are: John Paul Mancera, Sheryl Catalino, Trina Arrianne Manalili, Meca Ella Apolinar, Hexcel David, Benally Gaongen, and Cecilia Santos.
We had the opportunity to meet some of the ticket winners for the Miss Saigon prize and experience firsthand the unique perks of being a Sun Life client.
Prior to the show, we had a sumptuous lunch at the elegant Red Lantern, a high-end Chinese restaurant in Solaire Resort and Casino in Parañaque City. Together with the winners, media representatives, and surrounded by the company of fellow Sun Life representatives, we were treated to a delectable feast of gourmet Chinese cuisine while adoring the exquisite ambiance of the place.
While we dined, we were fortunate to interview some of the winners. I met Hexcel David, aged 29, a tax accountant who became a Sun Life client in 2019. He opted for an investment-linked insurance plan which offered both life insurance coverage and an investment component.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Meca Ella Apolinar, a 24-year-old working student. She became a Sun Life client last year in June, where she got the Sun Fit and Well health insurance plan.
Both David and Apolinar expressed their gratitude for being part of this memorable event. They are also happy that Sun Life has promos like these for its loyal customers.
“Very lucky ng mga nasa Sun Life, hindi lang insurance benefits ang makukuha mo…may promos pa tulad nito,” shares David.
“I feel so blessed and favored. We work because we want a living, and yet we forget how to live. Hinde ko in-e-expect na makakapunta ako sa ganito at ma-experience ko ito. May ganitong event pala si Sun Life,” said Apolinar.
David also shared his reasons for choosing Sun Life as his insurance provider. He said, “Nagreresearch ako – una kong tinitignan ay stability ng company, sunod yung longevity, kung tatagal ba siya, or kung strong ba siya. Knowing Sun Life na sobrang tagal na siya, dun palang talagang siguradong-sigurado na ako. I also learned sa mga friends ko na meron din policies sa ibang insurance companies, so nagkaroon ako ng idea. May mga bagay na gusto ako kay Sun Life talaga compare sa iba, kaya nangingibabaw si Sun Life.”
Meanwhile, Apolinar had a completely different reason for choosing Sun Life. “Nagustuhan ko ang Sun Life kasi nandoon si Sarah Geronimo. Bukod doon, when I graduated sa K-12, na-promote din sa akin yung pagkakaroon ng financial literacy sa school – kailangan ng disiplina sa pera hindi lang bili nang bili. Napansin ko din sa tito ko na isang Sun Life client din na yearly tumataas yung fund value, which is good, so kung anu in-e-expect mo will be more than that. Isa din sa nagustuhan ko sa Sun Life yung stability. More than 100 years na yung company, so established na siya.”
As we continued to savor our dining experience, we asked David about the significance of having a Sun Life insurance plan and how it can truly benefit him. He said, Hindi na ako mag-o-overthink kung may mangyari man sa akin at kapag ako nagkasakit. I’m promoting din sa mga kaibigan ko yung financial literacy. It’s like showing your love for your family that in case anything happens to me, hindi sila magkaka-problema,” said David.
For Apolinar, she saw the value of having life insurance at her young age. “Having an insurance is very important na siya ngayon! Maganda din siya as a plan mo for the future, kasi may assurance ka na kapag may Sun Life policy ka, hindi ka na mag-iisip na kung paano si Mama… may assurance ka na magiging maayos ang lahat even after mawala ka.”
After the delightful lunch, the winners and media were assisted by the Sun Life representatives to the theater. Beaming with excitement on their faces, the winners entered the venue ready to experience the magic of Miss Saigon, one of Broadway’s most beloved and iconic productions. Miss Saigon is an award-winning stage musical by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil that tells the story of Chris, an American male GI, who falls in love with Kim, a young Vietnamese orphan who works as a bar-girl and prostitute. When the city falls, the lovers are separated and Chris eventually returns to the United States. Years later, Chris returns to Bangkok with his American wife, Ellen.
