RCBC NegosyanTech empowers micro, small entreps to accept all digital payments

Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) has rolled out its NegosyanTech digital payments service for micro and small entrepreneurs enabling vendors to accept any payments from banks and e-wallets through its interoperable QRph code. The RCBC NegosyanTech Lahat Pwede QRph was launched at Bankerohan public market in Davao City in partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to introduce digital payments in public markets nationwide via the BSP’s Paleng-QR Plus program.

The event was attended by the BSP Monetary Board members and its senior officials led by BSP Governor Felipe Medalla together with DILG Regional Director Alex Roldan, Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte, and RCBC Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation and Inclusion Officer Lito Villanueva present.

The collaborative initiative aims to further promote financial inclusion in regional communities through interoperable digital payments at the grassroots such as public markets, sari-sari-stores, and local transportation hubs. Through the interoperable QRph, market vendors, tricycle drivers, and small business owners can now accept cashless payments via scanning their RCBC NegosyanTech Lahat Pwede QRph codes from any QRph-enabled banks and e-wallets.

This initiative is complemented with RCBC DiskarTech, the Philippines’ first and only multi-lingual financial inclusion app in Taglish and Cebuano languages allowing vendors to earn extra income through its various financially-empowering features or ‘PAKI-suyo’ services, such as the paki-bayad (bills payment), paki-load (buy load), paki-dala and paki-kuha (funds transfer) services of the app.

RCBC NegosyanTech and RCBC DiskarTech’s partnership with the BSP’s Paleng-QR Plus program is in line with RCBC’s vision of scaling inclusive digital finance covering millions of unbanked and underserved Filipinos into the formal financial system by creating demand-driven, mobile-first and customer-centric innovations with empathy. It is also aligned with the BSP’s agenda to grow the number of banked Filipinos from 56% in 2021 to 70% in 2023 and increase the volume of digital retail financial payments from 20% in 2021 to 50% in the same timeframe under its Digital Payments Transformation Roadmap.

“Promoting financial inclusion is part of our mission to create more innovations for those who normally don’t have access to banks. Inclusion means realizing the dreams of every Filipino by bringing finance services closer in every barangay,“ said Lito Villanueva, RCBC executive vice president and chief innovation and inclusion officer.

“Palengke is the perfect representation of Filipino’s diskarte. It is just fitting to include and prioritize palengke entrepreneurs in our journey in fast-tracking digital payment adoption in the country,” Villanueva added.

In the same event, RCBC also turned over an RCBC Moneybela Barangayan Banking e-tricycle to Clarv Business and Travel Center for being RCBC’s top performing RCBC ATM Go partner-merchant in Mindanao.

RCBC is committed to partnering with local government units to help widen their financial services’ reach. In partnership with Liga ng mga Barangay, RCBC MoneyBela’s e-tricycles will service over 42,000 barangays nationwide, delivering financial inclusion and banking services with the help of agents to grassroots communities in geographically disadvantaged communities.

RCBC DiskarTech users can also enjoy higher savings interest of 6.5 percent from December 1, 2022 to February 28, 2023. Moreover, RCBC DiskarTech celebrates Christmas with their ChristmaSwerteng Handog promo with every referring user earning Php80 and referred user earning Php40 for every successful RCBC DiskarTech account opening. On December 12, the referral incentive will be doubled to Php160 for referring user and Php80 for referred user.
