A 51-meter bridge within the CCLEX will then connect mainland Cebu to Cordova town in Mactan Island, which will help spur economic growth and boost tourism.

To ease the Cebuanos’ daily commute, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) is also working on the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT), a system that will be partially operational by the end of 2021 and will be fully completed in early 2023. The Bus Rapid Transit will be fielding 250 buses with at least 21 stations, serving around 60,000 passengers a day.

Cebu has other infrastructure projects in the pipeline, which will contribute to its booming economy and tourism: the 16,000-seat Seaside Arena beside the SM Seaside Complex; the large-scale gaming development called Emerald Bay Mactan, which is conceptualized to be “The Las Vegas of Cebu”; a world-class lifestyle destination to be billed as Cordova’s Sentosa of Cebu; and the ambitious Minglanilla Techno-Business Park reclamation project.

Rosales likewise points out that the slew of transport, business, and leisure infrastructures being built in Cebu has increased the value of units in BRIA Homes Danao and BRIA Condo Mactan, making these not only the ‘homes of choice’ of Filipinos but also an attractive option for property investors.
