Aboitiz Construction partners with TESDA-accredited training center to upskill future welders in Batangas

Setting down strong foundations is a key step early in the construction process, whether raising a building or advancing a community. On October 17, Aboitiz Construction, through the Aboitiz Group’s corporate social responsibility arm Aboitiz Foundation, inked a partnership with Excelsior Center for Excellence (Excelsior) to sponsor the training of qualified individuals on Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) II. Excelsior is an accredited training center of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

“This initiative is one of the many ways to fulfill our mission of building a better future for a better Philippines. Through this, we aim to provide employment and job opportunities for our beneficiaries,” said Aboitiz Construction Assistant Vice President for Business Transformation Karmine Andrea Ching.

The 14 qualified sponsorees are from Malvar and Lipa City in Batangas. After the completion of the course, the scholars will be assessed by TESDA-Batangas to earn a national certificate level 2 on Shielded Metal Arc Welding.

The program is intended to ensure a ready pool of welders in the community. They will be hired by Aboitiz Construction to support project sites in the area, from the warehouse project for LBC Express, Inc. in Paranaque City to land development projects for LIMA Estate in Batangas, as well as nationwide projects.

There is an increasing need for skilled welders in the construction industry. This program aims to upskill and provide potential employment to the scholars of Aboitiz Construction under the said training center.

The Aboitiz Group’s Great Transformation growth strategy starts first with the people, which is why Aboitiz Construction is set on providing opportunities for up-skilling in the communities that it serves. To fuel growth and business expansion, Aboitiz Construction has been focusing on projects in the industrial, infrastructure, and maintenance sectors. In line with its commitment to advance businesses and communities, these projects will provide job opportunities for many Filipinos.
