Connect on the go and learn new skills with new Android features

Android users are in for an even better mobile experience this year, as Google announced seven new features and updates for Android devices, designed to help users learn new skills, stay productive on the go, protect their information, and a lot more. Here are the updates:

  • Learn languages with Reading Practice – The new Reading Practice feature is designed to help new readers improve their vocabulary and comprehension skills. Available on thousands of children’s ebooks marked with a “Practice” badge on Google Play Books, the feature allows learners to hear the pronunciation of unknown words, practice mispronounced words, and receive feedback in real time.
  • Access Google TV, Finance, and News with new Android widgets – These three new Android widgets allow people to customize their phone or tablet home screen with more helpful shortcuts. The new widgets for Google TV, Finance, and News allow you to quickly find personalized movie and TV show suggestions, track selected stocks, and enjoy headlines curated daily from Google News.
  • Play music from your smartwatch with Spotify Tiles for Wear OS – Smartwatch wearers can now press play on Spotify right from their wrist and let Spotify’s DJ deliver a personalized lineup of music, stream episodes from their favorite podcasts, and listen to what’s in their heavy rotation thanks to new tiles and watch face shortcuts from Spotify for Wear OS.
  • Stay productive all from your wrist – On Google Keep for Wear OS, productivity-minded wearers can now add a tile for fast access to a selected note or to-do list on their watch. Simply swipe through their tiles and find their pinned note (like a shopping list) to stay on top of things.
  • Add some fun to your messages with emoji stickers on Gboard – Emoji Kitchen lets you remix your favorite emoji into stickers that they can send as messages via Gboard.
  • Protect yourself by scanning the dark web for your Gmail address – The dark web report is now available for most Google Accounts in the US to use on the Google One website and app. People can run scans to see if their Gmail address has been exposed on the dark web, and receive guidance on the actions they can take to protect themselves online. Access will also expand to more than 20 countries in the coming months.
