Just recently, we’ve tested vivo’s newly released budget-friendly phone the vivo Y02s along with some several previously launched models with the vivo Y35 and vivo Y16.
Now, they are adding another member to its Y-series with the all-new vivo Y22s another premium smartphone supporting the latest technology and offering an amazing price point.
The new vivo Y22s will flaunt a new design, powerful internal specs and long-lasting battery.
Highlighting another notable feature of the vivo Y22s is an impressive 50MP Super Night Camera sensor as vivo wants its users to Max out the Night capturing photos with clear and vivid images even in low light situations.
The vivo Y22s is priced at PHP12,999 for the 8GB+128GB while the 4GB+128GB at PHP10,999.
For now we are going to unbox, reveal some of its vital features and our first impressions with the vivo Y22s.
Unboxing
The box of the vivo Y22s has a neat and simple packaging with everything colored in white.
You have few elements on the box and not even an image of the vivo Y22s is printed there. However, you get this nice print finishing a holographic foil of the vivo logo and the Y22s name in a silver debossed effect.
Opening the box, you’ll immediately see the vivo Y22s unit then its inner compartment which holds mostly its accessories.
What you’ll be getting out of the box consists of the following: vivo Y22s unit, clear protective case, USB power adapter, USB-A to USB-C cable, SIM Ejector Tool, Quick Start Guide and Warranty Card. You also get a screen protector which is already pre-applied on the phone.
Premium and Unique Design
The vivo Y22s offers two stylish colorways in Starlit Blue and Summer Cyan. The Starlit Blue color has a glitter finish while our review unit the Summer Cyan looks very appealing and unique.
The Summer Cyan has this appealing flowing pattern that overlaps just like a peacock showing its attractive feathers. To achieve this kind of textured effect vivo used a nanoscale gradient electroplating process.
Aside from the nice texture effect of the back panel, when you shift the phone sideways the color gradually changes seeing between hues of blue to yellow or even some green.
I would still prefer the Starlit Blue color of its simplicity but if you want to shine out from the rest or feel special the Summer Cyan will convey out a sense of style.
The back cover is made of a durable polycarbonate material covered with a frosted anti-glare (AG) surface. With the AG surface it adds protection against dust, scratches and hides fingerprint marks. Plus, you can clean it easily and helps reduce glare at the back.
Located on the top left of the rear panel is a square type camera module made of glossy plastic material with rounded corners that houses a large dual-camera setup and LED flash. A vivo logo is placed at the bottom.
It’s body is designed with a 2.5D curvature, flat frame and similar rounded corners on the front and back making the phone comfortable to hold.
You have the SIM tray and a microphone on the top.
On the right the volume rockers and fingerprint scanner embedded with a rear power/sleep button is flushed to the side. Nothing was placed on the left side.
All together at the bottom are the speaker grille, USB-C port, microphone and a headphone jack.
Lastly, the front has slightly thick bezels from the top and both sides with the bottom bezels are a bit raised. The front camera gets a dew-drop notch design and the receiver just above it.
Large Display
The front screen of the vivo Y22s sports a 6.55-inch HD+ Halo FullView display using LCD panels.
It has a maximum screen refresh rate of 90Hz and the standard 60Hz for a less power consumption.
Hardware
It sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 6nm octa-core processor which the chipset can offer a 20% increase to its CPU performance. While the 6nm technology reduces power consumption and increase performance especially for gaming.
You also get 128GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM with an extra 8GB Dynamic RAM bringing a total of 16GB of Dynamic RAM. With the 16GB Dynamic RAM it will definitely improve the performance of the phone.

50MP Camera
On the camera department, the vivo Y22s has dual camera setup comprising of a 50MP main camera and a 2MP macro camera to capture those small objects such as flowers or insects. For your selfies you get an 8MP front facing camera.
You can choose to record your videos with resolutions either in 720p or 1080p with available frame rates at 30fps and 60fps.

Improve Your Mobile Gaming
For game enthusiasts, the vivo Y22s has some assortment of built-in gaming features to improve your gaming experience.
You have the Ultra Game mode when swipe sideways from the top left corner of any game exposes the gaming sidebar which you can set some function like a 4D game vibration, voice changer, enables background calls, ear customized audio effect and more.
The Multi-Turbo 5.5 is a series of boosters to optimize the CPU, RAM, GPU and network connection to reduce stutters and lags in games.
5,000 mAh Battery
To keep the vivo Y22s for long hours of usage and without constant recharging, it’s packed with a huge 5000 mAh battery. The massive battery is coupled with an 18W fast charging feature to quickly juice up the device.
Initial Thoughts
Up to this point, there are a lot of good things on the vivo Y22s. I liked the Summer Cyan color with its nice textured effect on the back panel. The huge 128GB storage can store more files, games or photos plus together with its 16GB Dynamic RAM it can manage to give you a snappier performance when switching between applications as well as running graphically heavy games without lags and stutters. Doing all these task is a breeze and less worries as it supports a large 5000mAh battery.
The cameras are also decent having a 50MP and 2MP macro lens but by now we already knew there’s no ultra-wide camera on it. For some this maybe a deal breaker, however for others it’s purely okey because you still have an array of outstanding spec-wise features built on the vivo Y22s.
Oh, let’s not forget the attractive price point set down on the vivo Y22s.
