vivo T1x 4G – Unboxing and First Impressions

Last May 2022, vivo launched two new models under its T series line-up designed for users looking for a premium and affordable gaming smartphone. The new mid-range devices in the T series are the vivo T1 5G and vivo T1x with both devices equipped with top-tier specs and nice aesthetics.

For our initial review, we got on our hands the vivo T1x the entry-level gaming model under the T series priced at PHP8,999 only.

Let’s see if the vivo T1x will bring value-for-money and elevate the user experience with its built-in features.

Unboxing

The packaging box of the vivo T1x is made of thick cardboard material including the inner top compartment all in color white. The innermost tray on the other hand that holds the cable and power adapter is made of plastic still in color white.

There’s no sample image of the vivo T1x on the box but mostly the vivo logo and phone models’ name are printed. At the back, you have a few information about the specs of the device and its main features.

Inside, you have the vivo T1x unit, SIM ejector tool, USB C cable, 18W power adapter, clear protective case, quick start guide and warranty card.

You also get a screen protector that’s already pre-applied on the phone.

Design and Build Quality

The vivo T1x has two available premium colorways the Gravity Black and our test unit in the Space Blue color. The Space Blue colors get this nice frosted coating with reflective mirror-like effect on the back panel that emits different shades of blue when turned sideways.

The back panel cover is made of durable plastic in a glossy finish making it fingerprint smudge magnet but can easily be wipe off by a cloth. You have a triple camera setup with a LED flash housed in a rectangular camera module design located on the top left corner. The camera module gets a slight protrusion however when placed on a flat surface it gets a minimal wobble when you tap it. A vivo logo can also be spotted on the bottom left corner.

The overall frame is made of metal while on its right side you have the volume rockers and power/sleep button integrated with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that’s flushed on the edge.

On the top you have access to your SIM card tray and the bottom houses the headset port, microphone, speaker grille and USB C port.

On the front, you get a tear drop notch design for the front facing camera and above it is the receiver. Bezels around the display are slightly slim but still noticeable especially the bottom chin.

Display and Hardware

The vivo T1x offers a large 6.58-inch FHD+ 1080p display with a resolution of 2408×1080 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate for a smooth scrolling experience.

Under the hood, you have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 octa-core processor up to 2.4 GHz, 4GB memory with additional extended RAM up to 1GB and 64GB internal storage expandable up to 1GB via MicroSD.

Camera with Sample Photos

As we’ve mentioned, the vivo T1x has a triple camera setup comprising of a 50MP f/1.8 main shooter, the second lens offers a 2MP f/2.4 depth camera and a 2MP f/2.4 macro camera.

For your selfies you get an 8MP f/1.8 front facing camera.

Initial Impressions

We had the vivo T1x for quite a few days now. So far, we like what it offers starting with its design and build quality. The frosted coating together with the mirror-like reflection of different hues of blue emitting is very pleasing to the eye. Even though it gets some fingerprint smudges, you can still put on the clear protective case to prevent this and still get the effect that glimmer at the back.

Internal specs built on the vivo T1x can handle tough games we usually play and other activities you could throw on the phone would still perform efficiently but will get to that on our full review.

The main camera on the vivo T1x can take good quality images when we shot them under good lighting conditions. You have details, colors not over saturated and skin tone on portrait shots are just the right hue.

On portrait mode you need to set the amount of bokeh to have that blurred background effect. We also saw that the edge of the background and subject separation is not that smooth. You also get some beauty and style filter for additional enhancement.

The pricing of the vivo T1x is very appealing and probably one of the best budget-friendly phone considering the specs and features it has.

For the meantime here are our initial thoughts on the vivo T1x and we will give you more on our full review especially more camera test and gameplay on this device. Stay tuned!
