Updated Kaspersky SD-WAN: better network reliability and stability

With the increased frequency of network outages affecting more than half of geographically distributed businesses, Kaspersky has introduced a vital update to its Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) solution. The new Link State Control technology ensures real-time, automated monitoring of network tunnel availability, allowing companies to detect and resolve connectivity issues instantly.

According to the latest Kaspersky report on geographically distributed companies, nearly 60% face network problems in their infrastructure every month. This leads to significant financial and reputational damage and can cost thousands of dollars per hour. Therefore, it’s important for companies to implement reliable solutions to proactively prevent any network interruptions.

Kaspersky SD-WAN is designed to build a fault-tolerant business infrastructure and protect geo-distributed networks. The solution allows organizations to use diverse communication channels, optimize cloud connections, enhance security, improve application performance and accelerate the implementation of new services.

Link State Control to improve the tunnel availability monitoring mechanism

In any software-defined network, it is necessary to continuously monitor the quality and availability of communication channels in order to promptly switch to more stable connections when necessary. Any channel and tunnel outages must be detected in a fraction of a second to ensure comprehensive verification and simplify the work of administrators.

With the new update, Kaspersky SD-WAN’s tunnel availability monitoring mechanism has been significantly improved due to Link State Control technology, which eliminates the need for manual configuration. These checks are now performed completely automatically at the protocol level, with the quality of each tunnel measured separately. This new feature enhances the stability and reliability of Kaspersky SD-WAN, elevating network performance to a new level.

Other enhancements

With this update, Kaspersky also introduced a new mechanism to restart the Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) registration process, along with new management and usability tools for CPE firmware based on the Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK). Moreover, the SD-WAN installer, Zero-Touch Provisioning user experience, and CPE deletion mechanism, were enhanced.

“We always strive to develop all-encompassing products and provide companies with comprehensive security for all their assets and processes. With the new update, we have improved Kaspersky SD-WAN, enabling businesses to detect outages in a fraction of a second, thereby elevating the reliability and stability of their networks to a new level and minimizing the risk of potential financial and reputational losses”, says Maxim Kaminsky, Business Development Manager of Secure Access Service Edge at Kaspersky.

Kaspersky SD-WAN is equally beneficial for corporations with branch offices, manufacturing enterprises with distributed locations, and companies with distant home offices or ATMs[1]. To learn more about this solution, please visit the website.
