Siemens hosted the first ever Siemens Process Automation Conference & Exhibition (SPACe) in the Philippines last week, with attendance of close to 100 participants comprising users, partners and Siemens experts. With the theme “Driving the Digital Enterprise in Process Industries of Southeast Asia”, Siemens aims to focus on customising solutions for individual markets and sectors, from process and discrete to motion control and drives.
Held once in every two years, SPACe is an enriching platform that engages attendees from different parts of the world to discuss emerging trends and challenges within the industry sector. It includes presentation and technology sessions, microfairs and exhibitions, as well as industry workshops and networking sessions, gain insights from experts, and have a first-hand access to the latest Siemens’ technologies.
Siemens also launched Version 9.0 of its SIMATIC PCS 7 Process Control System at SPACe Philippines. PCS 7 allows manufacturers to respond quickly to changes in market requirements and ensures the continuous operation of systems. Version 9.0 supports the world leading Industrial Ethernet standard Profinet with two new distributed I/O lines for greater digitalization right down to the field level, as well as extensive new software functionality. Plant operators also benefit from greater flexibility, convenience, future-proofing and wide-ranging compatibility with legacy installations. With this new version, Siemens is opening up scope for new perspectives to plant operators in the process industries and creating an additional building block en route for the Digital Enterprise.
SPACe Innovation Tour 2017 kicked off in Vietnam in June, followed by Singapore and Thailand earlier this month, and will conclude in Malaysia later this week.
