Last February 1, we had the privilege of dining at one of the popular casual Italian restaurant concepts in the country by the famous Italian-Japanese celebrity chef and restaurateur Chef Salvatore Cuomo.
Franchised by the Am-Phil Group, a company with a vast number of well-known franchised restaurants beginning with Chili’s and over the years opened more beloved restaurants like Super Bowl, Wild West Roadhouse Grill, Nanbantei of Tokyo, Tokyo Tonteki, and more.
In 2016, the Am-Phil Group introduced the first flagship store of Chef Salvatore Cuomo opening at Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig, the Salvatore Cuomo & Bar Restaurant. The area is perfect as BGC is known for its financial business district, glitzy shopping areas, and an array of upscale global restaurants.

They opened their next location eyeing one of the central business districts of Metro Manila with a huge population of diners of all ages in Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City.
The Salvatore Cuomo Café is located at the ground floor of The Podium Mall. Designed by Milan-based Tomaso Piantini of HIT arcHITects, the overall look of the café is bright, stylish yet cozy with a modern industrial type of design. It has high ceilings, warm lighting, brick walls, and textured wood tables with tall trees at the center bringing the freshness of nature into the space of its diners.

It also has an open kitchen and a wood-fired brick oven where customers can see the pizza-making action and how it was nicely cooked.
Family and friends will surely enjoy eating the wonderful Italian food served at the Salvatore Cuomo Café with its delightful interior space.

One of the main highlight of the event was getting to meet and personally see Chef Salvatore Cuomo himself. We were lucky as Chef Salvatore demonstrated how they make his famous Neapolitan pizza right on the spot with influencers and the media.
It was such a joy seeing the chef make his signature pizza as he explained to us the process and realized how much passion he put into it from the preparation, cooking, and before serving it to its customers.

Chef Salvatore also shared that the pizza is cooked in the wood-fired brick oven at 420 degrees Celsius, and in just minutes, it’s ready to be served. The high temperatures cause more heat into the oven to create the perfect pizza with the dough getting the right crispiness to the crust and being more flavorful. The toppings and sauce will be well-cooked, and cooking the pizza will be much faster.

Here are some photos of the food that were served to us during the event.
