BUILD, QUALITY AND COMFORT

First, let’s take a look on the charging case of the SOUNDPEATS True Air 2. Clad all around in black color in a matte finish, the overall design is very nice as it has a compact and slim design. Located on the top there’s a SOUNDPEATS logo while on its right you’ll find the USB Type-C charging port and a status LED indicator.

Opening and closing the lid of the charging case is easy and smooth. Inside the earbuds are held into place by a magnets to refrain from dropping off the case. It is also easy to remove them and putting them back again. The left and right earbud positions are etched below and a LED status indicator in the middle. Again, an etched SOUNDPEATS logo can be found under the top cover.

Next, the earbuds are semi in-ear design which has an overall black matte finish the same as the charging case. The outer design of the earbud has a silver accent of the SOUNDPEATS logo and tapping into it activates the numerous touch control features. Below it sports a status LED indicator and microphones are placed on the top and bottom of the earbuds.

The inner design of the earbuds has two charging contacts with a left/right indicators in each earbud placed in the middle of it.

Putting on the SOUNDPEATS True Air 2 feels more comfortable to my ear as it does not adds pressure into my ear canal. There’s no discomfort for wearing them for a very long period of time. You may also feel that it’s not secure in your ears but I tried shaking my head and even tilted my head into 90 degrees. So far the two earbuds stayed securely in my ears.

CONNECTIVITY AND CONTROLS

Connecting the True Air 2 to your smartphone or any other Bluetooth compatible device is simple and easy. There are two main ways to turn ON the earbuds so that device can find them via Bluetooth. First, you can either remove them from the case and have them automatically turn on. Second, if they’re already removed from the charging case, and you want to turn them on manually you just simply have to press+hold the SoundPEATS logo for about 1.5 seconds.

Once the earbuds are powered ON as well as the Bluetooth on the device is turned ON, the earbuds will be labeled “SOUNDPEATS TrueAir2”, once you tap on them the earbuds will now pair to your device. The right indicator will stop flashing with a voice prompt saying “Connected.” Good thing that the SOUNDPEATS TrueAir 2 earbuds can remember previously paired device so you have no problem reconnecting it again to the last paired device.

There are many controls that you can use when it comes to listening to music or watching videos, just remember all of these can be done by tapping on the SOUNDPEATS logo in both the earbuds.

  • Single Tap on Left Earbud – Volume Down
  • Single Tap on Right Earbud – Volume Up
  • Hold Left Earbud for 1.5 Seconds  – Previous Song or Video
  • Hold Right Earbud for 1.5 Seconds – Next Song or Video
  • Double Tap Either Earbud – Answer or Hang Up Phone Call
  • Press and Hold Either Earbud for 1.5 seconds – Reject Phone Call
  • Press and Hold Either Earbud for 2 Seconds – Switch Between Two Calls
  • Triple Tap Either Earbud – Activate Voice Assistant

The touch controls performed well but on our first experience with it we had a little trouble tapping on it as we sometimes missed the touch control area that didn’t activate the function. But after a few days with it we got a hang of it and got everything right.

One more thing that I liked on the True Air 2 is the automatic pairing and connection again to your device once you are over the maximum working range. It happened when I was using the earbuds on my Macbook listening to a Coldplay playlist at the 2nd floor of my room when a delivery came. Without taking the earbuds off, I was about to go down and nearing the gate it prompted “Disconnected” then “Pairing.” But once I was back inside the house I was seamlessly connected again with the device.

CALL, SOUND QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE

In terms of the sound quality, I had a good experience with the True Air 2 whether I used it for listening to music and watching videos on YouTube or Netflix.

It did a great job at delivering great sound quality as I can hear those deep bass pumping out with much credit to the built-in 14.2mm drivers. The vocal quality speeches coming from the singer or movie actors are very clear even individual sound details are well-defined like shattered glass, explosion or gunshots. So far the audio synchronizes perfectly.

The mids are good as well and high ones are enough to pull off those music for added emphasis. Even when at higher volumes they can still hold the quality.

The mic and call quality are adequate, smooth and clear enough to understand the person you’re talking to, so we had no problem with this.

The SOUNDPEATS True Air 2 has an IPX4 water-resistant rating that can withstand dust, splashes of water or sweat. But take note that these earbuds cannot be submerged in water or else they will be broken.

Charging the earbuds is easy, just simply place it back into the charging case and after 1.5 hours it will have a full charge. You can juice up the battery of the earbuds up to 4 times into the charging case.

Good thing that they chose to equipped the charging case with a USB Type-C port, which is now becoming a standard these days, to recharge it. The charging case does have a single red LED power light that turns on during charging.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Overall, the SOUNDPEATS True Air 2 delivers pleasing sound quality you need whether its for listening to music or watching videos in any of your devices. It’s charging case is very compact and portable that you can bring it anywhere with you.

It is equipped with the latest Bluetooth Audio chipset the Qualcomm QCC3040 that offers an array of other audio technology. Plus, the built-in USB Type-C charging port which is a common standard specs nowadays. Touch controls are responsive and works very well but with a little familiarity it will work smoothly.

Some bigger name brands are very pricey of their products due to their popularity, but with the True Air 2 you got great features and you’ll be spending a whole lot less money.
