After the successful launch of the OPPO Reno13 Series 5G last January, OPPO Philippines is set to unveil a new addition to its OPPO A Series lineup, the OPPO A5 Pro 5G.

Unboxing
The OPPO A5 Pro 5G comes in with the brand’s familiar packaging design that uses a thick cardboard material wrapped in an all-white, specially textured paper for added sophistication. The top cover showcases a prominent matte gray finish with a large number “5” printed on it, the models logo, while the sides highlight the phone’s key features.

At the bottom of the box, a printed sticker includes the certification marks, company info, IMEI, and model specs. There’s also a ‘Contains SOYOIL’ trademark which indicates that soy-based ink was used to print some elements of the box. It’s an eco-friendlier ink as it produces sharper, richer colors and bright images, and it also aids in the recycling process by making the ink easier to remove.
A compartment box is the first thing you’ll see when you open the top cover, holding some of the accessories. Once you remove it, the phone comes next, and underneath it, the remaining accessories are placed in a plastic tray.

It’s good to see that OPPO also included a free pre-applied screen protector, adding great value and allowing users to use the phone immediately out of the box without worrying about scratches.
Design and Build
Looking at the new OPPO A5 Pro 5G, it has a slim profile and a premium design. It measures 7.66mm in thickness, weighs 194 grams, and has dimensions of 164.82mm in height and 75.53mm in width. Holding the phone feels comfortable, lightweight, and easy to use with just one hand.
The phone sports a flat design incorporated into its aluminum frame, back panel, and front display, along with rounded corners for a smoother and more natural feel when you hold the phone.
The OPPO A5 Pro 5G is available in two new color options in Flower Pink and Mocha Brown.
The Flower Pink variant stands out with a blend of pink, purple, and blue hues. It features beautiful, lively filigree patterns resembling flower petals in a garden. Additionally, it incorporates the OPPO Glow effect for a shimmering and more premium look.
For our review unit, we got the Mocha Brown variant, a subtle yet luxurious color for those users who prefer a simple shade and doesn’t draw too much attention. It features a two-tone design, when tilted sideways and light hits the back panel, you’ll see a nice metallic brown shade, while in the absence of light we see that it appears a dark brown color.
Snapping on the protective case will hide the nice back panel design, but its matte finish and silicone material helps provide a good grip on the phone
The back panel has a smooth matte finish, and somehow its color shade helps conceal fingerprints and smudges to some extent.
The dual cameras are aligned vertically, with each lens adorned with gold rings that also matches the large LED flash beside them. They are all housed in a rounded square camera module that has a slight protrusion and a glossy finish.
The available outlets and functions found on the side edges of the phone are completely standard. The right side edges has the volume rockers and the power/sleep button that doubles as your fingerprint scanner.
Left side edge holds your SIM card tray with two nano-SIM cards or your MicroSd card for storage expansion.
The top edge are completely clean.
The microphones, USB-C port and speaker grille are placed at the bottom edge.
On the front, the bezels around the display are thin, except for the slightly raised bottom chin. However, the uneven bezels are not distracting when watching videos or playing games. The front camera has a centered punch-hole design, and just above it are the speakers.
Durability Features
As part of the OPPO A series, known for its durability, the OPPO A5 Pro 5G stands out with robust features that help users worry less about accidental drops, unexpected impacts, or unexpected conditions. Its reinforced design makes it sure for a better protection against everyday wear and tear prolonging the lifespan of the phone.
The OPPO A5 Pro 5G attains the highest level of protection with an IP69 rating, making it resistant to dust, water immersion, high-pressure sprays, and even high temperatures. In addition, it also holds IP68 and IP66 ratings providing a triple layer of protection for the phone.
The OPPO A5 Pro has been granted certification for Military-Grade Shock Resistance as the phone has passed several tests, including multi-angle drop tests, high-intensity impact tests, and other high-standard durability assessments.
To protect and prevent damage to its internal components, the phone is equipped with durable materials from the exterior to the internal structure. The screen cover is fitted with an upgraded double-tempering glass that offers a 160% increase from impact resistance compared to a standard glass.
Additionally, it includes a high-strength AM04 aluminum alloy for the motherboard’s upper cover and a Sponge Bionic Cushioning design which acts like a miniature airbag to safeguard key components even from major impacts and accidental high drops.
And we witnessed these durability features firsthand during our pre-briefing event, where the OPPO team demonstrated the phone’s overall strength. The device successfully passed several durability tests, including being submerged in a boiling hot pot and dropped on the floor. When we got home, we even tested our review unit by washing it under a faucet for our reels video.
Just a quick friendly reminder: While we conducted a durability test as part of our review, it was done in a controlled environment and at a normal pace. We do not recommend users trying it themselves to validate the claims, as it may affect the phone’s warranty.
Display
The phone has a large 6.67-inch IPS LCD display panel with a screen ration of 89.8%, a standard size good for gaming and streaming various multimedia content.
There’s a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother motions which you can set to standard mode at 60Hz to conserve battery. The screen has a resolution of 1604×720 pixels, pixel density of 264 PPI and good color reproduction with up to 16.7 million colors.
The peak brightness can reach 850 nits, or up to a maximum of 1000 nits. While the screen is fine indoors and in bright outdoor conditions, when used in direct sunlight, the visibility seems slightly reduced but still quite manageable.
The screen remains responsive when your hands are wet or when water droplets are poured on it, thanks to the Splash Touch feature. This allows continued use without needing to wipe your hands, a great advantage for delivery riders using the phone during the rainy season, as it prevents mis-taps and makes swiping on the screen much easier into their apps.
Performance
Powering the experience on the OPPO A5 Pro 5G, it is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 octa-core processor built on a 6-nanometer process technology with maximum clock speeds up to 2.4GHz. It’s using an ARM Mali-G57 MC2 with a core clock rate of 950MHz for its GPU.
With a large 256GB internal storage and 8GB RAM, along with support for RAM expansion up to 8GB, we experienced fast app loading times and ample space for our files, photos, and videos. Aside from the maximum 8GB RAM expansion, you can also choose from 4GB or 6GB, which still allows the phone to utilize free storage as virtual memory to improve multitasking capabilities.

For flawless connectivity, OPPO has integrated its AI LinkBoost 2.0 technology on the phone, which enhances signal strength even when we use it at remote locations or crowded areas, along with a 360-degree Surround Antenna system for a more stable connection wherever you are. It helps users for a lag-free gaming, continuous video streaming, or faster web browsing for a strong network performance.
During our extended use with the phone such as watching videos or playing games for hours, it only felt slightly warm on the back panel, thanks to its vapor chamber cooling system. This VC cooling system includes a 1,100mm² graphite layer and advanced thermal gel to help efficiently dissipate heat keeping the device cool.
To elevate the entertainment experience, the OPPO A5 Pro 5G comes equipped with dual stereo speakers. The device also features a unique volume boost function with its Ultra Volume mode, which amplifies sound up to 300% enhancing audio clarity even when we are at a noisy environment like malls. The sound quality is pretty good, it’s loud, vocals are clear, and the mid-highs are well-defined, though it lacks a bit of bass. Additionally, the audio is well-balanced and not primarily coming from the bottom-firing speakers.
For gamers, the AI GameBoost feature can enhance the players gaming experience as it intelligently optimize the frame rate and extend game play sessions.

Connectivity
The phone can easily connect to other devices with Bluetooth 5.3, enjoy seamless payments with NFC, and experience a stable wireless connection with Wi-Fi 5.
The phone, as we already know, is 5G-ready, and its SIM card tray can hold up to two 5G nano-SIM cards. We tested a 5G Globe SIM in the phone, and in areas with 5G connectivity, it was able to browse online smoothly and load videos faster.
As for text and calls, the OPPO A5 Pro 5G can easily handles basic communication features.
Another added feature, also found in the recently launched OPPO Reno13 series 5G, the brands proprietary technology the BeaconLink. By leveraging Bluetooth technology, it enables device-to-device voice calls, similar to a walkie-talkie, from up to 200 meters away in areas with no signal or limited Wi-Fi connectivity. However, it is exclusive to OPPO devices that support this technology. I liked how good this feature and I hope it can be shared to other phones as well.
Camera and Photo Samples
The OPPO A5 Pro 5G has a dual-camera setup on the rear that consists of a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP mono lens with an f/2.4 aperture, used to enhance low-light photography and create bokeh effects for portrait shots.
For video recordings, the resolution supports 720p at 30fps and 1080p with two available frame rates with 30fps and 60fps.
It also offers an 8-megapixel front camera with an f/2.0 aperture, capable of recording selfie videos at 1080p resolution with available frame rate of 30fps only. The front camera includes autofocus and a facial recognition making it a great addition for capturing clear facial details.
The photos on the rear camera gave us good image quality when used in daylight or bright ambient lighting that produced fine details, a balanced dynamic range, and natural color reproduction without too saturation.
It offers a 2x zoom option available on the camera app for closer shots with up to a maximum zoom of 10x. However, the image quality degrades significantly going to a higher zoom levels, so it’s better to move closer to your subject when possible.
Shooting in low-light conditions, we see that the image quality softens with fewer details and some presence of noise. Although, the night mode helps reduce noise but resulting in smoother-looking photos with less on details.
Although the front camera sports an 8MP lens, the selfies turn out well when you shoot in well-lighted conditions. The portrait mode has an aperture adjustment if you need to control the bokeh, and the separation between the subject and background is okay.

The OPPO A5 Pro 5G runs on the latest ColorOS 15 based on Android 15.
While things can get a little crowded, the phone comes with a bunch of pre-installed apps, you can easily uninstall those you don’t need. However, some of them are ones I usually use, like Spotify, Netflix, and Lazada, just to name a few. There are also game apps if you want to play them to kill time or when bored.
The phone now includes Gemini, which can be accessed by holding the home button or power button. This feature offers real-time answers and even has a chatbot version for quick responses.
For productivity, the OPPO A5 Pro 5G now integrates AI features to simplify work and tasks. It includes an AI Assistant for Documents, which can summarize, edit, and translate text. To refine and enhance your writing, you can use AI Rewrite for further polishing. Additionally, the AI Assistant for Notes helps format and improve your entries by organizing them with structured headings and highlights and more.
OPPO’s proprietary technology the Trinity Engine optimizes the phones three core technologies of the phone with ROM Vitalization, RAM Vitalization, and CPU Vitalization for the system or apps to perform a smooth operation whether it’s for game frame rates and faster app launches.
The OPPO A5 Pro 5G guarantees smooth performance with its 48-month Fluency Protection, providing users up to four years of sustained operational experience over time.
We did mentioned that the OPPO A5 Pro 5G is great for food and delivery motorcyle riders, and one feature that benefits them is Outdoor Mode, especially when they are always in an open-air environments.
The Outdoor Mode enables key functions like hands-free calls with auto speakerphone, always-on display, accurate location services, improved signal reception, and maximum volume for call and message alerts to ensure no calls or messages from customers are missed. With Glove Touch, the phone stays responsive even when wearing thick leather, protective, rubber, or waterproof gloves. These features will help make their work easier on the phone and improve customer satisfaction.
Battery
Built for longer performance, the OPPO A5 Pro 5G is equipped with a massive battery capacity at 5800mAh even with a slim and lightweight design. To complement its large battery, the phone supports a 45W SUPERVOOC Flash Charge technology to recharge it quickly.
According to OPPO’s claims, the 5,800 mAh battery can provide users up to 35.7 hours of screen-off calling, 16.1 hours of YouTube video playback, and 31.3 hours of local audio playback. As for charging, it can reach 10% in less than 5 minutes and fully charge to 100% in just 83 minutes.
Additionally, OPPO suggest that the battery will retain over 80% of its original capacity even after four years of daily full charging at 1,600 charge cycles as well as discharging which ensures long-term durability for the device.
In our charging test using the 45W SUPERVOOC, a 15-minute charge boosted the battery to 15%, and after 30 minutes, it reached 41%. It took approximately 1 hour and 38 minutes to fully charge the phone from 0 to 100%.

A video loop test using the YouTube app at 75% volume and 75% brightness was conducted to measure the battery consumption. After four hours, the battery dropped from 72% to 38%, consuming around 34%. With this, you could stream your favorite series from morning until afternoon.

With a reasonable price of PHP15,999, the OPPO A5 Pro 5G stands out as an affordable daily smartphone with great features focusing on durability, battery life, a 50MP camera, 5G connectivity, and a range of AI capabilities.
The overall performance of the phone is quite decent, as it handles multitasking well. We experienced no lags, even with several apps open or running in the background. Similarly, the display also offers good viewing angles and details while the 1000 nits of peak brightness make it easy to see the screen even when you’re outdoors. If the display panel were AMOLED, it would be even better.
Meanwhile, the phone’s battery life is pretty good with its 5,800mAh capacity and paired with a fast-charging adapter. I was able to use it from morning until evening with moderate usage, including updating our social media platforms, taking photos for our review, watching TikTok or YouTube videos, and playing MLBB for hours.
The rear cameras are quite reliable especially when used in good lighting conditions or bright environments like malls and restaurants. The front camera also captures good selfies, and you can use the AI Studio app to enhance your images before posting them on social media to attract more attention.
Apart from the AI Studio app, this phone supports an array of AI features including the AI Editor in the camera app, AI LinkBoost 2.0 for enhanced connectivity, AI Assistant for improved productivity, and AI GameBoost for optimizing gameplay. Not all phone under this category would offer such amount of intelligent capabilities.
