Review: Momax Q.Power UV Box Sanitizer with Wireless Charging

Here’s a nice product from Digital Walker, one of the country’s largest retailer of premium gadgets and accessories, the perfect and convenient way to sanitize our smartphones, gadgets or accessories that’s safe for us to use because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Introducing the Momax Q.Power UV Box Sanitizer that features an Ultraviolet (UV) light to help disinfect and kill 99.9% of known germs and bacteria. Plus, they added a wireless charging pad to juice up your smartphones that has wireless charging capabilities. It’s available at Digital Walker and Home Office site with a suggested retail price of PHP2,790 (before PHP3,990).

There are three main types of UV rays: UVA, UVB and UVC but among them UVC rays have the shortest wavelength and highest energy capable of killing bacteria and viruses. It demolishes the molecular bonds that binds together the DNA of the viruses or bacteria. So that’s a little bit of science trivia for all you to know about.

Back to the review, unboxing the Momax Q.Power UV Box sanitizer we have the following contents: Momax Q.Power UV Box sanitizer, USB-A to to Type-C cable, Momax Micro Fibre cloth, two pc droppers, and Documentations (Instructional Manual, Safety Manual, Momax Mini Brochure and Testing Report). Take note that there’s no power adapter included in the box so you might have to use one of your own.

The box sanitizer is clad in all-white made of durable plastic material. At the back you have the USB Type-C charging port and located on the top is a cover lid with the power/mode button and the wireless charging pad. The cover lid doesn’t have any lock mechanism so you can easily open it. Upon opening the lid you’ll see the tray itself plus revealing the two UV light lamps placed each end of the sides.

The aroma diffuser inlet can also be seen at the tray which lets you to add a droplet of aroma liquid, to add fragrance to your smartphone or accessories while sanitizing it. The aroma liquid is not also included in the box but Momax gave out two pieces of droppers.

HOW TO SANITIZE

First, open the cover lid and decide if you’ll add fragrance to your device during sanitization process then you should put the aroma liquid into the diffuser using the dropper.

Next step is to place your smartphone or any accessories there that you prefer to be sanitize but just as long as it can fit into the available area of the tray after closing the lid.

Again close the lid to begin the sanitization and press the power/mode button. There are two modes available which you can choose: one press will start an 18-minute sterilization session or double-press to start a 30-min sterilization session. The box sanitizer will give a loud beep when the session is completed.

Another safety feature built in the Momax Q.Power UV Box sanitizer is automatically turning OFF the UV light lamp if ever you accidentally open the cover lid or someone calls on your phone while the session is not completely finished. This will ensure that the UV light will not emit to your eyes or skin as these rays are harmful to us. Sanitization session will resume once you close the cover lid again.

We tried smartphones, earbuds, jewelry and coins to disinfect these items but we noticed that the load capacity of the tray area is quite limited. It can only fit one smartphone up to the size of a Samsung Galaxy Note10 Plus.

USING THE WIRELESS CHARGING

The top of the cover lid doubles up as a wireless charging pad extending out power of up to 7.5W on iOS and 10W on Android devices. You may opt to do wireless charging on your smartphone after the sterilization process but during the ongoing session you may be able to do it. It can be convenient and easy do the wireless charging by simply placing your phone on top of the cover lid where the wireless charging pad area is located. It charges automatically as there’s no need to push the power/mode button.

USE IT WITH A POWERBANK

With an available USB Type-A cable you can even plug it to any powerbank powering up the Momax Q.Power UV Box sanitizer. You can now easily bring along the box sanitizer anywhere to sanitize your devices even to your office. While driving your car you may connect it with your USB Car Charger as well to disinfect your smartphone so when you get home its already safe to use it.

TESTED AND CERTIFIED

The Momax Q.Power UV Box Sanitizer achieved a 99.9% kills bacteria or viruses such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus Aureus, Candida Albicans and more. Included in one of the documentation is a testing report that made the device undergo a testing through the Hong Kong Certification Centre (a member of STC). Less worries as you can be sure that this device is safe to use and proven to kill any viruses or germs.
