OPPO Reno 12 5G – Unboxing + First Look

OPPO Philippines will be unveiling two of its latest Portrait Expert phones with the OPPO Reno12 5G and OPPO Reno12 Pro 5G.

One of the highly-renowned model series of the brand, the new Reno 12 5G series models will offer intuitive AI features to further enhance user experience.

The new OPPO Reno12 Series 5G will boasts of a powerful Al camera system, stylish design, more durable and equipped with the industry-leading battery and charging technology.

Though we will do a full review of the phone this coming this week, we’re still under embargo, but let’s unbox the phone and take a look at its most interesting set of key features.

Unboxing

The packaging of the OPPO Reno 12 5G almost has the same design of its previous model. The box is made of thick cardboard material in all-white color with a matte finish. It still has that prominent holographic foil printed on the top cover with a large printed number 12.

The box has a new “OPPO AI Phone” branding printed alongside the usual logo and model name as it highlights the phone’s focus on advanced AI features.

On the back, you’ll find other printed elements on the box including certification marks, company info, IMEI, and model’s specs.

Opening the box, you’ll immediately see the phone and underneath it are the other included accessories.

Taking out all the items inside the box we got the following:

  • OPPO Reno 12 5G Unit
  • SIM Ejector Tool
  • Clear Protective Case
  • USB-A to USB-C Cable
  • 80W SUPERVOOC Power Adapter
  • Quick Guide
  • Safety Guide

OPPO includes a screen protector pre-applied on the phone for added value.

Design

The new OPPO Reno 12 5G comes in three available colors – Astro Silver, Sunset Pink, and Matte Brown. For our hands on review, we have the Sunset Pink color a new vibrant shade added to the Reno series model.

The Sunset Pink color will definitely appeal trendsetters and perfectly capturing the essence of Pantone’s 2024 Color of the Year which is the Peach Fuzz.

It has a slim profile being only 7.6mm thick and weighs 177 grams. Additional measurements are 161.4mm for its height and a width of 74.1mm. It makes the Reno 12 5G easy to carry along and comfortably hold it for long hours.

I was also impressed with the included clear protective case which isn’t your average one. OPPO designed it with a stylish ribbed texture that will also complement the phone’s design.

Hardware

As for performance, the OPPO Reno 12 5G boasts of a powerful MediaTek 7300-energy octa core processor, 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, and a large 5,000 mAh battery with fast charging technology.

As for the display, it offers a 6.7-inch 3D curved screen with a resolution of 2412 x 1080 pixels.

Generative AI Features

Another standout features of the new OPPO Reno 12 5G is its integrated generative AI features on the camera. With Gen AI paired on the Reno 12 5G’s camera, it opens the doors to a world of fun and creative possibilities capturing stunning and unique shots that will take your social media posts to the next level.

The Gen AI features offered on the Reno 12 5G are AI Eraser 2.0, AI Clear Face, AI Best Face, and AI Studio.

Here are some samples we took on the OPPO Reno 12 5G using the Gen AI features.
