Despite ongoing efforts by the Philippine government to assist students from low-income families in meeting their educational and personal needs, many still face significant challenges.
Candelaria Elementary School, situated in the mountainous barangay of Matag-ob, Leyte, is among those in need of such assistance. Serving as an educational refuge for many pupils from low-income families in the Visayas region, this public-school faces challenges in meeting the needs of its students.
Concerned about the well-being of their students, the dedicated teachers of Candelaria Elementary School took the initiative steps of reaching out to M Lhuillier, seeking support for a feeding program.
The proactive team of M Lhuillier immediately mobilized the group to visit the Candelaria Elementary School and assist in fulfilling the feeding program for its Grade 1 to 6 students on January 23, 2024.
Guided by Ma’am Alma V. Pobadora, the school’s esteemed head, the teaching staff carefully prepared a brief and engaging program for the special occasion. The simple program features the students’ talents through various dance performances to add joy to the event before proceeding to the feeding program.
The food was distributed to 71 students consisting of a delicious Jollibee meal with fried chicken and spaghetti. Additionally, they were treated to a delightful ice cream dessert, satisfying their hunger and bringing smiles to their faces.

Concluding the event, the group generously donated essential school supplies to the students, providing them with the necessary tools for their educational journey. Meanwhile the faculty of Candelaria Elementary School also received donations from the M Lhuillier in the form of a computer set which is paired with a printer and speaker. These will greatly enhance their students’ learning experience.
Ma’am Alma Pobadora expressed her heartfelt gratitude to M Lhuillier for the support and looked forward to future collaborations that would benefit the students of Candelaria Elementary School. The partnership has not only improved students’ physical well-being but also fostered a sense of community and encouragement in the school.
