It is necessary to have blood transfusions as part of the healthcare system. Every year, it makes a significant contribution to saving millions of lives. It assists people with complex and serious ailments requiring medical and surgical intervention. Furthermore, it increases the life expectancy of patients who suffer from various illnesses and who receive rapid treatment.
Even during a pandemic, there is no shortage of people in need of blood. M Lhuillier’s goal has always been to provide assistance and support where it is required. This is why M Lhuillier, through its different Organizational Productivity Enhancement Committees (OPEC) groups, in collaboration with the Red Cross Chapter, organized bloodletting programs to expand the blood bank supply.
Through the partnership of M Lhuillier and the Philippine Red Cross Bloodletting program, voluntary blood donation is facilitated in Brgy. Palayan, Nagcarlan, and Laguna to ensure a sufficient supply of safe blood and manage blood banks. In order to enhance public awareness of the necessity of blood donation as a humanitarian gesture, this legislation was enacted. A total of 78 bags of blood were collected as a result of this activity. With this generosity of all donors, this initiative was a resounding success.
Red Cross-Quezon City Chapter and M Lhuillier teamed up to hold the first-ever blood donation drive at the Senior Citizen Hall on Casanova Drive in Barangay Culiat, Quezon City. In contrast, 30 employees showed up at the location, where they were screened and found to be eligible to donate blood. A total of twenty-two (22) blood bags have been collected and will be used for transfusions at healthcare institutions. It will also help reduce the shortage of blood bags and increase the number of people receiving safe blood transfusions.
Merchandise tote bags, face towels, and t-shirts are also given to all Philippine Red Cross contributors and volunteers. All participants in the event received Mont Saint Michel bottled water as well. Donating blood may just take a few minutes of your time, but it can save another person’s life.
Volunteers of the bloodletting exercise stated their desire and eagerness to engage in the activity and contribute to the community. As a result of the blood drive’s success, other members of the M Lhuillier family were inspired to donate blood as well, which will help save more lives in the new normal and beyond.
