The latest generation of Lenovo Legion gaming laptops, desktops and accessories for 2020 was launched via live internet-streamed that showcased their gaming products with a new design and high performance features.
The 2020 lineup features the following products, for the gaming laptop we have the Lenovo Legion 7i, Legion 5Pi, Legion 5i, Legion 5, IdeaPad Gaming 3i and the Legion Y740Si. For the desktop, Lenovo brings in the Legion Tower 5i, IdeaCentre Gaming 5i plus new gaming accessories are also unveiled.
Key executives present during the live feed from Lenovo are Ian Tan, AP Gaming Lead; Clifford Chong, AP Category Manager for Gaming; Michael Ngan, Country General Manager; and Tristan Gonzales, Legion Product Manager. Also joining the live event with key updates from their respective brands are Lenovo’s key partners: George Chacko, Director, Global Account, Asia Pacific & Japan for Intel; Paige Shi, Head of APAC Consumer Sales for AMD; and Bertrand Lim, Regional Manager for Gaming Laptops for NVIDIA.
The ideal gaming laptop global players wanted
Lenovo shared its new source of their products new developments by talking to thousands of its global gamers asking them the following question: “What do you want to see in your ideal gaming laptop?”. The gamers responded and wanted Lenovo to solve the problem with the following basic concerns: loud designs, poor screen colors, poor keyboard, lowly battery life, parts heat up and lastly noisy fan. Having better graphics, processors and memory options are tops on their must-have list.
Lenovo immediately acted and address the concerns coming out with a better Legion products offering gamers a stylish on the outside and savage on the inside. The new gaming PCs packed with the following innovations:
Better Thermal and Noise Management
The company developed the Lenovo Legion Coldfront 2.0. the next-generation thermal management system a synergy of hardware and software that promotes better airflow, lower system temperatures to keep it cool and quiet. It features Dual Burn pushing the CPU and GPU to their in-game limits so that gamers can experience more predictable FPS (frames per second) without thermal throttling. An optimized cooling system of heat sinks that dissipate more heat away plus multipoint sensor array that works to cool down key components in anticipation of intense gameplay. Vapor Chamber Cooling Systems that dispel heat as dual liquid crystal polymer fan systems cycle air with chilling efficiency available at the Lenovo Legion 7i and Lenovo Legion Y740Si.
Improved Gaming Keyboard and Layout
Lenovo Legion TrueStrike keyboard is precision-crafted to deliver 100 percent anti-ghosting, sub-millisecond response times, and ‘soft-landing’ switches resulting in hair-trigger accuracy.
The keyboard layout has full-sized keys and number pad, larger one-piece trackpad, arrow keys plus dedicated media keys that will illuminate in over 16 million colors with Corsair iCUE support on the Lenovo Legion 7i, and optional 4-zone RGB lighting on the other new Lenovo Legion laptop models. It also features an anti-oil coating to resist abrasion.
Improved Battery Life
The new Advanced Optimus that dynamically switches between the use of the Integrated Graphic Processing Unit (found on the CPU) for more battery life, to the discrete NVIDIA GPU for higher frames per second without a need to reboot the machine.
Lenovo Vantage software of Hybrid Mode lets gamers manually disable their discrete GPU for a longer battery life. Lenovo Q-Control 3.0 can switch between three settings for system voltage and fan speeds. Choose either in Performance Mode to turbo-charge past the competition with higher CPU voltage and higher FPS. When streaming esports, downshift into Quiet Mode to lower battery drain and fan noise. Or enable Balanced Mode for automatic adjustments based on which apps are open.
Lastly, the Rapid Charge Pro allows your gaming laptop gets that added juice up from 0 to 50 percent battery in 30 minutes.
Brilliant Displays
Lenovo Legion display panel’s capabilities has Dolby Vision which offers deeper blacks and brighter whites without washing out color or contrast. It offers panels of up to 240hz refresh rates at under 1ms response times for ultra-smooth cinematics without screen tearing.
The new Lenovo Legion laptops offer High Dynamic Range (HDR) on select panels with at least 300nits of brightness, so that dramatic shadowed scenes with high levels of black tones are reproduced vividly with more depth; 100 percent sRGB color accurate panels also offer life-like visuals.
Powering this exciting new suite of advancements is the latest 10th Gen Intel Core H-Series or AMD Ryzen 4000 Series mobile processors, and up to the recently announced NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti and RTX 2080 SUPER GPUs with Max-Q Design covered with a powerful Windows 10.
