Globe At Home set to launch newest fiber-to-the-room technology

Leading digital solutions group Globe is set to become among the first telecommunications providers in Southeast Asia to launch innovative fiber-to-the room (FTTR) technology following successful testing.

FTTR is the first choice for digital transformation in homes, providing extremely fast and ultra seamless WiFi connection with exceptionally low latency.  It has speed and coverage 10 times the traditional WiFi network and capacity to handle up to 128 device connections.

This is among innovations on offer under Globe’s push for built-in broadband in housing developments, working with several of the country’s major builders and real property developers for greater adoption of ready connectivity.

The new solution provided by Globe At Home will help customers maximize WiFi signals and avoid dead spots in large spaces, houses and buildings with thick multiple concrete walls and floors, and too many connected devices.

With GFiber Unli plans boosted by FTTR, the digital experience at home will reach a whole new level.

“Broadband services have shifted during the pandemic.  The internet has become an integral part of our daily lives, whether for work, learning, or entertainment.  It is also now being used to maximize connectivity in intelligent homes. The introduction of FTTR will further elevate their digital lifestyle at home,” said Janis Racpan, Head of Globe At Home Brand Management.

The pandemic has accelerated digital adoption, making FTTR an important component in homes seeking the best internet connectivity available in the market.

The technology aims to build an all-optical base for whole-home WiFi. It extends fiber to every room and enables gigabit WiFi 6 coverage to create a brand-new digital experience.

Meanwhile, Globe At Home also launched the first ever end-to-end digital fiber purchase experience with the all-new GFiber plans. Getting a GFiber Unli plan is easier than ever from application to activation.

Current Globe postpaid mobile and GCash customers may complete their orders in just five minutes with pre-filled forms online. Customers may also easily book technicians based on their preferred schedule and track their location real time. Globe At Home also offers same-day connection for those who complete their application before 2 p.m., and guarantee installation within 24 hours.Subscribers can choose between GFiber Plan 1699 with speeds of up to 150 Mbps and GFiber Plan 2099 with up to 300 Mbps.  These internet-only plans with waived installation fees are exclusive for digital and retail stores in select barangays across the country.

Globe’s move to adopt FTTR and its innovative service offers are part of its commitment to bring a #1stWorldNetwork to Filipinos nationwide. This is in line with Globe’s support for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UN SDG No. 9, which highlights the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development.

In 2021, Globe spent an all-time high P92.8 billion in CAPEX to construct 1,407 new cell sites, upgrade over 22,300 mobile sites, install more than 2,000 5G outdoor sites and in-building solutions, and roll out fiber to 1.4 million homes. This year, the company is spending another P89 billion to continue its aggressive network builds.
