Aboitiz Construction ties up with SKILLS to support 50 future scaffolders in Cebu

To help address the increasing need for skilled workers in the construction industry, last November 23, Aboitiz Construction, through the Aboitiz Group’s corporate social responsibility arm Aboitiz Foundation, officially signed a partnership with the School of Knowledge for Industrial Labor, Leadership, and Service (SKILLS) to sponsor the training of 50 qualified Cebuanos.

SKILLS is the corporate foundation of Cebu’s Primary Group of Builders that provides technical vocational education to marginalized and unemployed youth and adults.

This partnership aims to upskill the scholars and ensure a ready pool of scaffolders who will be hired by Aboitiz Construction to support its maintenance projects across the country.

“In line with our commitment to build a better future, we continue to help empower workers in the communities that we serve and provide job opportunities for many Filipinos,” said Aboitiz Construction Assistant Vice President for Human Resources Mylynne Cabanilla-Estupin.

Aboitiz Construction currently provides maintenance services for an industrial plant in Claver, Surigao Del Norte. The firm is also eyeing to pursue plant maintenance activities for AboitizPower’s Therma Visayas Inc.’s power plant in Toledo City, Cebu.

The Aboitiz Group’s Great Transformation centers on capacitating its people towards the advancement of business and communities. This year, Aboitiz Construction hired around 4,000 skilled workers who are now assigned to different sites nationwide. To secure growth, Aboitiz Construction has been focusing on projects in the industrial, infrastructure, and maintenance fields. These projects are geared towards providing jobs for many Filipinos.
