Aboitiz Construction signed a memorandum of agreement with Ormoc City LGU and the Technical Education and Skills Development Center (TESDC) to establish a network of tech-voc graduates in the area and match the skills of potential talents with the existing requirements of the company’s project sites nationwide. Aboitiz Construction recently inked a partnership with the local government of Ormoc City in Leyte and the Technical Education and Skills Development Center (TESDC) to establish job linkages and network services for technical vocational (Tech-Voc) graduates in the said area.
Through this partnership, Aboitiz Construction aims to have a good source of information about potential skilled workers and match the skills of Tech-Voc graduates with the set qualifications and requirements of various construction projects of the company nationwide.
Present during the signing of memorandum of agreement are Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez, TESDC Senior Manpower Development Officer V Allan Nobria, Ormoc Public Employment Service Office Manager Josephine Hermosilla and the Talent Attraction team of Aboitiz Construction.
“During these times, it is hard to find a job. So, when you are given this chance to work, do it well,” said Mayor Gomez during his speech before the TESDC graduates.
This initiative is also in preparation for the 500 manpower requirement for the shutdown works for a mining company in Surigao del Norte this September 2022. In addition, this also fills the job requirements for skilled welders, scaffolders, pipefitters, and riggers of the company’s upcoming projects.
“In line with our commitment to build a better future, we continue to provide employment for many Filipinos and prioritize the hiring of local residents from nearby communities,” said Nina-Ylagan Pedro, Division Chief for Corporate Affairs and Services of Aboitiz Construction.
Based on Aboitiz Construction’s first quarter report, it hired more than 900 skilled workers who are now assigned in different projects across the country. Depending on the number of upcoming projects, Aboitiz Construction is looking to hire more workers towards the end of the year.
