Aboitiz Construction kicked off 2021 with great milestones and one of the highlights is the completion of the design and construction of Berth for one of the most modern container ports in the country, the Davao International Container Terminal (DICT) in Panabo City, Davao del Norte, last March.
The completed project aimed to construct Berth no. 4 which is a structure that is 33 meters wide and 177 meters long, has a connecting bridge access and a mooring Dolphin. A total of 1,965 pieces of precast pile cap, beams, girder and t-beams were installed. Two barges and 4 cranes were used for installation works.
This project is an extension of the company’s previous construction of Berths 1-3 for DICT. In total, the length of DICT Berth is 600 meters which can moor 3 units of Post Panamax vessels.

Previously known as San Vicente Terminal which handled dock break bulk vessels that load agricultural products, DICT is now regarded as a modern container terminal in the country that handles larger vessels, loading products like construction equipment and rubber raw products.
The construction of Berths has increased the turnaround time for loading of vessels. This means more vessels can now dock at the terminal to bring more produce and agricultural products in and out of the region, potentially creating demand. A total of 121 employees were hired for the said project and out of this number, around 72% were locally hired.
