A total of 60 entries will be competing in today’s semifinals of the 2022 World Slasher Cup 2 9-Cock Invitational Derby after surviving a tough two-cock elimination rounds last Tuesday night, May 31, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Top names of the sport clashing in today’s semifinals are defending champion TJ Marquez, Engr. Rhemy Medrano, Antonio Celedio Jr., Nene Araneta, Caloy Colanding, Gov. Ito Ynares, Jun Gabriel, KGWD Man/ Dr. Lapena, Bimbo/Dr. Lapena, Danilo Garcia/Pando Lopez, Replica/Weind, PT/Francis Bagang, Bobby Torres/Lowell Kaw, Bong/Ronald Espino, Nyok/Tony/Engr. Canlas, BP, Robert Gaza, and Norman Bengco, all with 2-0 records each after the elimination round.
Also advancing to the semifinals are Rudy Reyes, Joemell Tanjuakio, St. Joseph, Paul Rodriguez, and Ronald Del Rosario after scoring 1.5 points in the elimination round. Other fighters who scored at least a point in the elimination round will also move on to the semifinals.
Meanwhile, another 60 entries are set to compete in the second leg of the semifinal round on Friday, June 3, led by sabong idol Patrick Antonio, Nene Araneta, Gary Tubianosa and Jay Soria, Doc Eddie Boy Cheng, Albert Dichavez and Pol Dy, Randy Rabara, James Uy and Papa Bravo, Noisy Boys of Guam, Padz Barr, Rommel Cordova, Porac Cockpit, MBJ, Chito Brraza, Roel Facundo and B. Joson, Ambo Concepcion, Joel and Jhay Alindogan and E. Clemente, Danny Martinez, and Sonson Atienza, all with 2-0 records each after the elimination round.
The winners of the semi-finals will move on to the four-cock pre-finals and grand finals on June 6 wherein a new World Slasher Cup champion will be crowned.
